The typical pilgrimage to St. Bras, on February 3rd, sets off the Carnival celebrations, which include traditional music and food, and a visit to the saint’s chapel in the summit of the hill with the same name. Multicoloured disguises and traditional costumes give life to the town; and entertainment goes on inside pubs, discos and local associations with balls. On Carnival’s Sunday and Shrove Tuesday the Marginal Avenue fills with people to watch the parades, where masqueraded people, fantasy groups and some social criticism provide lots of fun to everyone.
